About me

My name is Marco de Goeij, an Amsterdam-based Matchmover and Realtime 3D artist working for film, tv, engineering and education. My early background includes mechanical engineering (MSc), creative photography, web/software development, programming and database design. Over the past 20 years I have developed strong skills as a 3D generalist.

I got into matchmoving after I joined fxphd late 2007, where I formed a broad base in visual effects. Since then I've worked on numerous projects as a matchmover, such as Cloud Atlas, Iron Man 3, Snow Piercer, Captain America 2 and 3, Renegades, The Man from UNCLE, Doctor Strange, Dark Tower, Fast & Furious 8, Babylon Berlin, Portal: No Escape and Played.

Since mid 2017 I shifted my attention a bit more towards modelling, and especially parametric modeling (CAD) and 3D scanning. For the TU Delft I've been working on a full digital reconstruction of the CTO measurement train, and was responsible for the terrestrial and handheld 3D laser scanning, photogrammetry and 3D/CAD modelling.

Recently I've gotten very interested in proceduralism and real-time technology, and especially in using Houdini and Unreal Engine to build custom tools for procedural content generation in game engines. Besides that I'm also experimenting with virtual reality and 3D printing.
